Recently, we worked closely with a client in West Kelowna, to transform their living room into a space that combines beauty and practicality. This project was not just about aesthetics; it focused on creating storage solutions that met the client's needs while enhancing the overall look of the room.

The Vision Behind the Redesign

From our first meeting, we made it a priority to understand the client's vision for their living room. They wanted a space that was both visually appealing and functional—specifically for their storage needs. Observing the existing layout, we identified several areas lacking in both beauty and utility.

Through multiple discussions, we focused on a design concept that married style with function. The client wanted a warm, welcoming atmosphere, which guided all of our decisions moving forward.

The Statement Feature Wall

Our first major step in the redesign was to create a captivating feature wall using the board and batten technique. This traditional style adds depth and offers a striking element that catches the eye right away.

We selected a rich shade of green for the board and batten that not only enhanced the space but also served as a calming backdrop. Color psychology shows that green can reduce stress and promote relaxation, which resonated perfectly with our client's desires for comfort in their living room.

We also updated the client's existing doors to create a more high-end feel in the space, tying the colour of the feature wall into the bedroom door.

Custom Entertainment Center: A Blend of Function and Style

Storage was a priority, and our solution involved designing a custom entertainment center tailored exclusively to our client’s needs. This unique piece offers ample storage while still fitting our client's vision.

The entertainment center featured buffet-style cabinets that kept clutter out of sight, along with open wood shelves that allowed for easy access to games and media items. Not only did this solution serve a purpose, but it also highlighted the natural elements in the room. The wood tones paired beautifully with the green wall, resulting in a cohesive look that our client loved.
